Alkepay is built on a foundation of Canadian regulatory compliance. Every transaction is screened. Every customer is verified. Every record is auditable.
FINTRAC registration
Alkepay Inc. is registered with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) as a Money Services Business under FINTRAC registration number C10001750. This registration authorizes us to engage in foreign exchange dealing and money transmission, two of the regulated activities defined under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA).
Anti money laundering program
Our compliance program is documented and overseen by a designated compliance officer. It includes:
- Customer identification and verification (KYC and KYB) at onboarding
- Beneficial ownership identification for corporate customers
- Ongoing customer due diligence based on risk rating
- Transaction monitoring against AML typologies
- Sanctions screening against the United Nations consolidated list, Canadian Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions list, and other applicable lists
- Suspicious transaction and large cash transaction reporting
- Record keeping for minimum five years per PCMLTFA requirements
- Annual training for all employees in compliance roles
- Independent biennial program effectiveness review
Know your business onboarding
Every business customer is onboarded under a documented KYB process. We collect:
- Articles of incorporation and corporate registry confirmation
- Beneficial ownership information for individuals owning 25 percent or more
- Government issued identification for directors, signatories, and beneficial owners
- Proof of business address and operating status
- Industry classification and intended use of services
Risk based enhanced due diligence applies to certain industries and ownership structures.
Sanctions and prohibited activity
Alkepay does not process transactions to or from jurisdictions, individuals, or entities subject to Canadian or international sanctions. We screen every transaction at initiation and continuously update our watchlists.
Data protection
We process personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Customer funds are held with a regulated banking partner in segregated accounts. Transactional and personal data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with role based access controls and audit logging on all data access.
Reporting and audit
We maintain transaction and customer records for the minimum periods required by Canadian regulation. We respond to lawful information requests from FINTRAC, law enforcement, and regulators through documented procedures.
